The Fonz Has Been Insured!!!

We finally had some extra money and officially made the transfer into our name. So the Fonz is on the road for 3 months! He's awesome! Dean put a seat-belt in the back for Mila's car seat. We took it for a drive up Highway 18 and then to the new Home Depot. I always forget we're driving in it and wonder why the hell everybody is staring at us! It's a head turner that's for sure
It's supposed to be sunny this weekend so we'll take it for another good cruise.
I need to take some more pictures!!

Trunk Emblem and Interior...

Hey y'all....
I just got the complete trunk emblem that I had purchased on Ebay. The Chrome is rough but I am sure it's nothing the platers can't fix up for us!! Small Potatoes!!

I also took some shots of the interior....That's a hard thing to do... I wanted to capture how awesome it is inside....SO ROOMY...

Here's a pic of underneath the ginormous hood....
Old Fonzy really needs a good shampoo!

IT'S HOME!

On Friday after work Dean really just wanted to go get the car before the owner could change his mind! It only took him a day to put in the transmission and now it runs awesome. So we went down with a cheque and transfer papers to seal the deal. He gave us a quick lesson and we took'er away! I followed Dean in my car to make sure all was well. We got gas and headed home.

Then it was off to Canadian Tire for some much needed Auto Detailing accessories...including some fuzzy white dice!

Yesterday we washed it up all shiney and waxed it too. Then took it for a spin! We get a lot of looks in that thing.
Still no seatbelts but the kids absolutely love sitting in the back"couch".

Oh ya it has a name...

Fonzie! Ehhhhh....

Now "Fonzie" is proudly taking up half of our two car garage. It looks reaaaally nice in there!

Can't wait to start working on it!

We get it this weekend!!! WOOT!!

So the current owner called Dean yesterday and said the car was all ready to go! He's having second thoughts about selling it now....So sorry buddy!! He even asked Dean if he could insure it for one more day so he could take it camping...Uh NOOO way Jose! Good thing I have the registration papers here!! Anyway he is a really nice guy and said the car is running great!

O-M-G We have a lot of work to do in the garage to make room for this boat!

I did however make my first purchase for the car....

It's a replacement trunk emblem since ours only has the "F" left. This one isn't great but we can get it replated.

I also contacted the guys at Victoria Plating and asked about getting the grill re-chromed. They said it would cost around $500.00 Which is pretty reasonable since that would really make the car look so much better!! And we could get a few other things done while we're at it.

I can't wait to take it for a drive!!!

It's almost ours!!

As of 10:00am our deposit of $1,000 was made to Daniel (the current owner). He is in the process of moving his Machanics shop and needs the Fleetline to go! We should get it with the tranny in place and brakes adjusted by August the 30th!! Can't wait to drive her/him out of the weeds! I am looking to buy a new trunk emblem on Ebay...that will be our first purchase for the new addition! Then of course SEAT BELTS....
Glad it's ours for sure now!! Apparently 2 other people came by and offered to buy it from him yesterday.....what luck that we went and talked to him when we did! It was meant to be!!!

I always said blogging was a self righteous thing to do....

Here I am....BLOGGING...Like I have time for this....

Just what I need ... another excuse to be on the damn computer...

Well we are on our way to restoring a super-wicked- awesome 1948 Chevrolet Fleetline (4 door without the rear skirting) ...

It will not be restored to full original glory of course but we are going to make it a shiney machine. The best part about the car....Front and back bench seats!! So you can snuggle with your best guy or gal....Hicadoola!

It's not quite ours yet...The deposit will be paid this weekend and the current owner will be dropping a Turbo 400 Transmision in it sometime this month.

I have always wanted to learn hot rodding lingo...so here we go...

So far I have added to my less than extensive car vocab:

3 on the tree

4 on the floor

Baby Moons
